Three Boonah gardens will be on display under the umbrella of the Australian Open Garden Scheme.
The gardens are:
Beth’s place at 4 Carl Avenue Kalbar. A lifetime’s gardening wisdom is evident in the retreat which has been developed using waterwise principles. The quarter acre garden contains colourful shrubs and perennials, thriving staghorns and elkhorns, specialised collections including plants with black and other unusual foliage, a dry creek bed, bush house and a pond ringed by succulents.
Coulson House at 101 Hancock Road Coulson. Parthenocissus drapes historic slab farm buildings, and stephanotis weaves through poinciana in a picturesque hilltop cottage garden. The extensive native garden features hardy pastel-hued species that attract abundant birdlife. The two acre garden also includes ponds and a waterfall, lavender hedges, rolling lawns and fruit trees, duranta hedged grotto and a consecrated chapel.
Little Pee Dee at 342 Obum Obum Road, Waterwise principles are embraced in an impressive multi-layered garden in a beautiful six acre setting. Vast selection of exotics and natives including special eremophila and grevillea collections. Sculptured bougainvillea hedges and mazes. Herb garden, cactus and succulent gardens amidst a tapestry of conifers and statues.
The gardens are wheel chair friendly and can be viewed for $5 each. Tickets are available at the gardens.
